Chinese New Year celebrations!

We welcomed the year of the horse this year with a small celebration in our home with some Chinese friends! Shirley is from Northern China where jiaozi (dumplings) are very popular, so when she offered to come over and make them for us, we were excited! She made everything by scratch. They were delicious!

Zoe is a friend of Shirley's that spent the day with us, too.
It was fun to talk in Chinese again! It's been awhile!
Honestly, though, by the end of the day my head was hurting. :)

The ladies in the kitchen making the dumplings!

Our big spread before digging in!
LOTS of dumplings, fried noodles, and lots of snacks & fruit.

Here is the "after" shot of our meal! We ate till we could eat no more, then we moved into the living room for snacks, games, and watching the Spring Festival Gala on TV! It was all in Chinese, of course, but it was spectacular!

Zoe came to know the Lord the week before! Pray for Shirley as she disciples her!

After our guests left, I enjoyed some snuggle time

Happy New Year! :)

We got our TV hooked up so that we could watch the Spring Festival Gala, the Superbowl, and the Olympics. Sadly, neither the Superbowl or the Olympics are being shown! Joe is still working hard to get some good footage for me to watch highlights. I so appreciate him not giving up! :) Once of the sacrifices of living here, I suppose. We'll watch periodic highlights that make it to You Tube, and the rest of you can enjoy it for us!

Here is Joey, watching the choppy version of the Superbowl aired on NBC through his VPN. Hey, it's better than nothing, right? Since the Superbowl is always on our Monday morning, I associate it not with nachos or chicken wings, but with scrambled eggs and bacon! Yum!

More photos to come soon! hugs from us!
