Our merry little Christmas... Part 1/3: HoChiMinh City

We have been talking about going to Vietnam for probably 2 years. We finally made it! Joe had been reading through our Lonely Planet off and on all this time, so we have been SO excited as we've planned this trip. And with our children! How exciting! We absolutely love traveling with the kids. Sometimes people look at us like we're crazy, sometimes people ask us how it works. We just smile as we juggle baby carriers, do quick bag-counts, pull candy out of our back pockets for important events like keeping a 2 y/o happy during boarder crossings, and make sure we still have all the biggest necessities of our trip accessible: Wes' monkey, his trains, soothers, and both kids.

Here is a peek at our Christmas adventure! I love how each Christmas, although non-traditional, is packed full of special memories that our family will always look back and treasure.

Here we are at our hotel, ready to start to explore HoChiMin City! I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised with the city. It's really quite nice! It is well developed, the taxis are beautiful, the roads are paved so nicely, the traffic is so orderly, and it still has a unique flair only Vietnam can offer. We loved it!

When you start out blindly walking in a city you've never been in before, you come across interesting and remote areas! We just went down random roads and alleys and loved what we found!

We didn't find a restaurant we wanted to eat at on our exploration, so we went back to our hotel for dinner but got some street food on the way!

Exploring the restaurant at our hotel

Sunday morning we headed out to explore more of the city, find a church we had researched, and go to the famous Ben Thanh Market!
However, we started our day with some REAL Vietnamese Pho!

We had the privilege of meeting with other believers!

Walking to and from church

Ben Thanh Market! Did you know it's more than just a restaurant in the tri-city? :)
Here it is!!

Stopping for coffee. Vietnamese coffee will be in heaven.

Mommy & Daddy have more stamina for exploration than the kids. :)
Sleeping babies...

Instead of going to Starbucks (yes, HCMC has Starbucks!) I wanted to go to a popular Vietnamese chain coffee shop. Isn't the latte art so pretty? The coffee was a little strong for me, though. haha

We went to Subway!!!!

HCMC has beautiful parks!

Baskin Robbins icecream treats!!

Briana made a friend! They're the same age.

After exploring HCMC on Sunday, we were off to the coast: Mui Ne!
