Auntie Dee here to visit!!!

I met Dee the fall of 2009. I was a newly wed and relatively new to Shanghai. We attended Global Leadership Summit and she was sitting behind me. We chatted, and she was one of those instant-friends! We kept in touch through church, she joined our small group, we had lots of late-night talks on weekends that she crashed at our place since she lived outside of the city, we rejoiced with her as she was baptized, prayed with her for a husband, suspiciously scrutinized this guy name Geoffry that she met and ended up also rejoicing with her as he was baptized, they were engaged, and we were a part of their wedding! They have become such dear friends, adored our little family, and we were sad when we had to leave them behind in Shanghai when we moved to Cambodia. However, they soon moved to Singapore which is only a 2 hour flight from Phnom Penh! They invited us to visit them last year for Christmas when we shared the news that a new baby was on the way, Dee came to visit in April since it really is too hard to resist a good deal on a plane ticket, and now she came again to meet Briana! There are not enough words to describe how grateful my heart is for friends like Dee & Geo who make such an effort to stay in touch and keep the friendship growing. Oh how I wish we lived closer to them! :)

Here is Auntie Dee with Briana. Dee showered the kids with gifts (us, too!) as if her presence wasn't enough! and was one of those guests that makes it just so easy to host. She literally just wanted to hang out with us and our kids! So we spent a lot of time laughing, playing with the kiddos, and getting caught up on ALL that God has been doing in our lives over the past months. PTL for friendships like these!

We tried to capture Briana sucking her thumb! A new trick while Dee was here!

Uncle Geo really wished he could come but couldn't because of work.
He was so sweet and sent this tennis ball along with Dee to give to Wes, complete with photos of how he can start to train to learn tennis! Since Uncle Geo is a tennis coach and should-be-pro tennis player, this makes this ball a VERY special gift!

Right now Wes likes to hit it with his blue bat. It bounces off the walls and ceiling REALLY well! haha
Thanks, Uncle Geo!! :)

We had a little spa-day where Auntie Dee, Mommy, and baby Briana all got pampered!
Here is Briana's first pedi!! (let me hear you say, awww!!)

And that evening went out for a girls' night out for yummy drinks and dessert!

We took Auntie Dee to a "play date!"
Wes loves this indoor playground and I love visiting with other moms (and playing, too!)
Wes is such a riot when it comes to bouncy castles, big slides, and balls. Since I have a 2 year old son, I can have fun playing, too! Otherwise people would just look at me weird. haha

Here are our photographers while Wes and I got quality play time in! :)

Look out below! Wes is coming through!!!
He gets some serious air as he bounces/slides down this thing!

We went out for lunch at this lovely little outdoor cafe called "Le Jardin" (if you don't speak French, that means the Garden. Appropriately named). The best feature of this place: the big sand box for kids to play in! Perfect for little families like ours! :)

Smoothies!!

don't worry... Mommy & Auntie have a more refined palate than our french-fry loving 2 year old who licks ketchup off his fingers.

Dee got her hair done here! Prices are MUCH cheaper than in Singapore, so she's getting ready for her sister's wedding in London, England in a couple of weeks.
Doesn't she look beautiful?
Proper response by husband to wife coming home from the salon:
"Wow, hun, you look amazing! Is that ALL it cost??"
hehe

We took Auntie Dee to our favorite swimming pool!

I love these pics of Dee and Wes together in the tuk tuk.
Dee & Geo will be a part of our kids lives as they grow up, so it's sweet to capture moments like these when they're little.

Girls shopping night! Out to the night market! :)

And Dee blessed Joe and I by playing babysitter so we could have a date night!!!
We used to go out weekly, and these days don't have a sitter available in the evenings. So to have a whole evening to ourselves (and desserts half price!!!) we really appreciated her willingness to brave the kiddos. She did a great job!!

Unfortunately this evening was the start of pink eye hitting our home! It put Joe out for about 5 days. He got it really bad in both eyes. Wes had it briefly, but not too bad, and Briana kind of got it a little, but it didn't amount to much. Thankfully I didn't get it at all! Poor Joe, though. He had to miss several days of work. We had planned to have Dee take some family photos on Sunday morning before she left, but Joe's eyes were so bad by then, we didn't think that'd be the best time for a Christmas photo shoot. ;)
We're glad to be on the other side of it, now!

We would love to have you come for a visit, too! Our guest room is always ready!! :)

Thanks for coming, Dee! We lovedlovedloved having you here!
Can't wait to see you again! Maybe we'll meet up in Thailand next time? ;)

hugs from the Martins!!
